About Me.

Hi, I’m Amy,

My hand crafted lighting showcase the natural translucency of porcelain ceramic.  Beautifully simple designs are brought to life with delicate attention to detail and the precision required to handle this, the finest of clays.

I work from my studio on Shoreham Beach, near Brighton, Sussex, where the waves and the wind blow into my work.

Simple, honest forms, as airy and fluid as the sea that inspired them.

I love to co-create. Combining expertise to make a bespoke light. Working this way allows the designer or private commissioner to specify their precise needs, the size, scale or simple proportion that they need, the type of light and function. The result is totally unique lighting for your space. I encourage you to come to me if you have an idea to realise or are looking for something for a specific space.

Let’s make something beautiful.

Pure radiance

I fell in love with porcelain,
its softness,
its pure white tones
and most of all
its delicious translucency.

Background.

After graduating with BA Hons in 3D Crafts from Brighton University, I worked in industry making architectural ceramics for architecture. I loved working with tonnes of clay every day and as a young workshop we innovated and experimented to fulfil most jobs. This experience definitely gave me the confidence to pursue my curiosity in ceramics. I still find myself pushing my material to its limits and back again.

I am honoured to have been awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2011. My experiences visiting the USA to learn about innovation and uses of architectural ceramics, together with my MA in Historic Environment Conservation at Birmingham University honed my understanding and appreciation for ceramics in architecture. And formed my vision to work with porcelain in the built environment and translucency in architecture.
